The varsity girls volleyball team opened the season on Saturday morning with a clean sweep of county rivals Cloverleaf and Brunswick in a non-league triangular. Sophomore outside hitter Kate Schellenberger had 6 of her match-high 10 kills in the 2nd set as the Bees beat the Colts 26-24, 25-20 to open the event. In the 2nd match, Schellenberger blasted 14 kills and Grace Tabaka made a match-best 17 digs as they held on to defeat the Blue Devils 25-21, 25-23. Senior Lauren Sherman and sophomore Eva Myers were both major factors at the setter position. Sherman had 16 assists against the Colts and added 15 helpers against Brunswick. Myers finished with 6 kills, 7 assists, 3 aces, and 3 blocks in the 1st match. Senior Allie Fugarino, junior Kalea Tagalicod, and sophomore Maddison Tucker were also clutch in the opening victories.

Medina improves to 2-0 on the season. They will open up Suburban League play on Tuesday night when they host the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs.
